Marco Bourgault, a 6’6″, 200 pound guard from Monroe College (JUCO), has shown high interest in St. John’s along with teammate Orlando Sanchez.

The French native fits, once again, a “Lavin type” of athletic player while at the same time possessing a great ability to shoot the basketball.

In a year where the focus has been on attaining players for the front court, an improvement is direly needed in terms of attaining shooters.  D’Angelo Harrison was the only successful 3-point shooter on last year’s squad with a 36.2 3pt% while the Red Storm finished with a measly 28.3 3pt% as a team.

Bourgault has a high basketball IQ and an ability to cut to the basket in addition to his outside shot.

The shooting guard is a one time commit of Montana State, where he ended up falling a half credit shy of gaining eligibility due to the differences in his foreign credit transfers.  He then enrolled at Notre Dame Prep.

He has garnered interest from St. John’s, Maryland, Iona, and Florida International.

The second game for Monroe College’s (#3 in nation) NJCAA tournament is tonight at 7pm.
