The games air across the following four channels: CBS, TruTV, TBS, and TNT.  Lavin has experience in front of the camera as he worked for ESPN for seven years between his coaching jobs at UCLA and St. John’s.

“I’m looking forward to working this weekend as a studio analyst covering the NCAA Tournament for CBS Sports and Turner Sports.” said Lavin, “There is no better sporting event than March Madness and contributing as a broadcaster is the next-best thing to participating as a coach.”

Making an appearance on the network in the prime time of men’s college basketball can be seen as a recruiting tool.  It gives Lavin the chance to show both that he is indeed healthy and display his knowledge of the game.

Lavin has said in the past that he time behind a microphone helped him learn about the game and mature in his coaching abilities.

While there is no St. John’s in this year’s postseason, the head coach hopes that will change.

“Next March the Johnnies plan to be back in the field of 68, but in the meantime I consider it a privilege to work alongside the expert studio crew in NYC.”
