St. John’s (8-7, 2-2 BE) closes its midwest swing with a matchup with #25/24 Marquette (12-4, 1-2 BE) in Wisconsin.  The Red Storm are coming off a 57-55 tip-in win at the buzzer, while the Golden Eagles are trying to get back to winning following a close 73-66 loss to #1 Syracuse.

This game will be a test for both teams as Marquette tries to get back to winning ways and St. John’s tries to string together the first Big East winning streak of the season.

A key to the Red Storm’s success in the future will be Amir Garrett.  Garrett looks more comfortable on the court than he did in the early going and having another fully functioning player will only help things.  Also, Newly named Big East Rookie of the Week D’Angelo Harrison (16 ppg) will need to continue to take control of the offensive end.

Both teams will try to wear each other down with transition offense, which means each team can be prone to turnovers.  The Johnnies need to capitalize on those turnovers and not give away too many themselves, which they failed to do Saturday in Cincinnati.
